Jeff, Kim & Dawn: Your mom was known by many in town, enjoyed our visits when we were out eating at CC or elsewhere. Cherish your memories always as you read here, online under Jeff's post on the Oelwein page + many more as you hear at the visit'n drive thru and at the drive in funeral. She enjoyed her family, cards, knew her thru Zion church and as our mom's played cards together, probably doing that now up in heaven! Heard all the rumble up above tonight! Be close to each other always and keep in touch w/each other and your friends. You'll need your families and friends now more than ever! Heaven has gained another angel.

Jeff, Kim and Dawn,
Your mom and dad were among the first people we met when we came to Oelwein in the 60's. Max spent time at the stock yards with your dad and I had many coffee chats with Shirley at your house on 2nd St. We were also in bridge club together for several years. Shirley was "one of a kind" and will be missed. I loved her laugh and zest for life.
We pray for God to bless each of you with many happy memories.

Shirley was one of the first people I met when we moved to Oelwein in 1972. Bridge club, Sunday School and Bible School teaching together at Zion. She never let any friendship die. Our loss is Heaven's great gain. God Bless you all.

So many memories of Shirley shopping at Mike's IGA. She did "major" grocery shopping and it involved many carts that would be pushed up the hill, because of course Shirley never drove. The store lit up when she was in it.
Had a great adventure with your mom when I drove her to the Chicago area for Bill Ottilie's funeral. We shared many stories.
Good memories from the Oelwein ties.
Our sympathies to your family as your remember your mom.

Shirley was “one in a million” with her vibrant personality, laughter and smile. A special memory I would like to share were the times Shirley would apply my make up and give me a pep talk for the various “balls” during high school. That gave me confidence to face the crowd. Sharing the memories will keep the spirit of Shirley with you.
