Robert Aubrey
August 5, 1937 - December 11, 2016

Robert Charles Aubrey, 79, of Clinton, IA and formally of Oelwein passed away on Sunday December 11, 2016 at Hospice of Mercy in Hiawatha surrounded by his family.  Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 AM on Saturday December 17, 2016 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Services will then be at 11:30 AM with a Military service to follow led by American Legion Ross Reid Post 9 of Oelwein.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  A memorial fund has been established.

Robert was born in Oelwein on August 5, 1937 to parents John and Agnes (Egan) Aubrey.  He enlisted into the U. S. Army in 1954 and served his county honorably for three years.  On September 29, 1962 he was united in marriage with Karen Ann Swenson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.  Robert was employed with Colonial Bread, as a Police Officer; however, the majority of his employment was with the Chicago & Northwestern Railway as an electrician. He followed the railroad from Oelwein to Clinton, where he retired.  He enjoyed playing golf, visiting friends, fishing in Canada and time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He touched many lives and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his children: Jeff (Donna) Aubrey of Plano, TX, Brian (Becky) Aubrey of Janesville, WI, Tim Aubrey of Marion, IA, and Shawn (Dawn) Aubrey of Cedar Falls, IA; thirteen grandchildren: Ryan, Brandon, Danielle, Kristen, Tanner, Josie, Tyler, Alyssa, Nikole (Randy), Aanya, Sami, Shelby and Cade; two great-grandchildren: Braxton,  Noralee and Kayden; a brother John “Gus” (Joann)  Aubrey of Oelwein, IA; a sister Margaret “Peggy” Sproull of Winthrop, IA.  He was preceded in death by his wife Karen (May 5, 2015); a brother William Aubrey; three sisters: Mary Kathryn “Kate” Steffen, Lucille Wardell and Lorraine Short; daughter-in-law Donna Zentz Aubrey and his parents John and Agnes.
