Raymond F. Kueker, 91, passed away on Monday July 17, 2017 at Oelwein Health Care Center in Oelwein. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Thursday July 20, 2017 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein. Services will begin at 10:30 AM Friday July 21, 2017 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home with Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Ross Reid Post #9 of Oelwein. A memorial fund has been established.
Ray was born on July 1, 1926 on the family farm in Dayton Township in Bremer County, the son of Fred and Anna (Meswarb) Kueker. He graduated from Readlyn High School with the class of 1944. Ray enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Force and was Honorably Discharged shortly after his father passed away. He retired from employment with US West.
Ray was an active member of the American Legion Ross Reid Post #9 of Oelwein and a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Ray enjoyed time at the American Legion, all his friends, rides in the car and getting ice cream. He was a good person who loved life and family.
Ray is survived by his wife Linda Kueker Woodward; step children: Tina, Lehs and Tom, all of New Hampton, and Kenny and Dolly of Texas; four step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; his cat Tootsie; nieces and nephews: Roger and Shirley Thurm, Larry and Carol Strottmann, Jerry and Connie Lobeck, Lorri Lobeck, David Shelstad and Marion Kueker; many great-nieces and nephews and his American Legion adopted son, Jake Blitsch. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Anna (Gordish); his sister Arlene Matthias; his brothers: Roland Kueker and Arnold Kueker.
