Paul was born on January 25, 1935 in Hazleton, Iowa the son of Ralph and Fern (Woodward) Damon.  He graduated from Oelwein High School with the class of 1953.  On April 2, 1953 he was united in marriage with Betty Saathoff in Oelwein.  Paul began his salesman career with Keniston Packing Plant in Oelwein.  He later retired from Whitmore Brokerage Co. in Des Moines.  In his retirement years, he and his wife Betty managed Lakeview Mobile Home Court in Oelwein.  Paul was always in his field on his John Deere; mowing, mowing, mowing.  He received the Positively Oelwein Spiffy and Clapper awards for keeping the Mobile Home Court in top shape.

In his earlier years, you could find him on the ball diamond playing slow pitch, anywhere a cribbage game was going on or at a neighborhood game of horseshoes.  Paul taught gun safety classes and was involved in the Boy Scouts.  He loved nature, birds and especially hiking, hunting and canoeing.  His life was for his family, wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandson.  He was the Yin to Betty’s Yang.
