Theresa Stearns, 49, of Dunkerton passed away Sunday February 17, 2019 at her home.  Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Friday February 22, 2019 with memorial services beginning at 1:00 PM at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  Please direct memorials to Cedar Valley Pitbull Rescue, Cedar Bend Humane Society, or an animal shelter of your choosing.

Theresa was born November 18, 1969 in Independence, Iowa. She went to Wapsie Valley Schools. On June 24, 1989 she was united in marriage with Douglas Stearns at Dunkerton, Iowa.

Theresa was an animal lover. She would do anything she could for an animal in need. She rescued countless strays and had the biggest heart. She would help take care of others before she would take care of herself. She made an impact in so many people’s lives and will be greatly missed.

Left to celebrate Theresa’s life is her husband, Douglas John Stearns; her mother and stepfather, John and Pamela Risse; her three children: Brittany (Jerry Boyd III), Cory (Amy), Staci (Colby White) Stearns; three “furbabies”: Pringles, Nala, and Charley; two brothers: Jeremy (Brandee) and Michael Clark; three grandchildren: Kamery, Damien, and Rykyn Davidson; a niece, Alex; five grand-dogs and five grand-cats.

She was preceded in death by her maternal great- grandparents and grandparents; her father; a brother-in-law, Scott Stearns; her “furbabies”: Jazzy, Baby, Ruffles, and Elmo.
