Terri Woods
January 19, 1958 - April 25, 2024

Terri Woods passed away on Thursday, April 25th, 2024 at MercyOne Hospital in Oelwein. She was surrounded by her daughters and her grandsons. The Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein is assisting the family.

Terri Louise (Neunsinger) Woods was born in Watertown, South Dakota on January 19th, 1958. Born to parents Richard Neunsinger and Ruth (Olson) Neunsinger. She grew up in Oelwein, and graduated from Oelwein High School in 1976. She was united in marriage to Thomas (Tommy) Woods on December 9th, 1978. Together, they had 2 daughters, Courtney, and Rachel. They divorced years later.

Terri was a woman who has “done it all”. She worked an eclectic variety of jobs in her lifetime, including, shoe sales, construction, legal assistant, and court reporter. Because she loved to socialize, most often you could find her bartending at a local spot.

Terri had a jovial disposition and a true Wanderlust soul. Her love of adventure and exploration took her all over the country. Some of Terri’s favorite hobbies and pastimes were playing bingo, playing cards with friends and family, hunting agates and other rocks and crystals, and usually had one or more DIY projects in rotation. Shopping was an inherited sport. She had a “nose” for bargain shopping, thrifting, antiquing and garage saleing. She was always up for an adventure, especially if there was a casino stop on the itinerary.

Terri was fierce, loyal, well-spoken, and always gave the best advice. She was generous to a fault and was always willing to help a friend in need. She had a talent to make even the most mundane situations enjoyable. Her wildly funny and quick-witted nature always left quite the impression. If you have ever played cards with her, you know all about her comedic energy. Something that many may not know, Terri was creative and artistic. In her alone time, she would add color to black and white art using her large collection of art pens and write beautiful poetry that she had done since she was in middle school.

Terri had a deep love for all of her friends and family, but no one more than her two daughters and her three precious Grandsons. She loved every second spent with “her boys’. Teaching them a new skill, hunting for treasures, attending their many athletic and school activities. She was their biggest cheerleader and being a “Gramma” was the greatest blessing of her life. She will be sorely missed by all who know and love her.

Terri is survived by her two daughters, Courtney Woods (Jason Wescott) of Oelwein and Rachel Woods of Randalia; her three grandsons, Brady Fettkether, Drakesyn Woods and Christian Waterman; her sister, Patti Lutz (Greg Sieleman) of Palm Desert, CA; her nephews, Chris Lutz of Irvine, CA, Lucas Neunsinger of Kansas City, MO, Michael Lutz of Northglenn, CO, Nicholas Neunsinger of Ankeny; her niece, Kelsey How of El Dorado Hills CA, and her 3 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ruth Neunsunger; her brother, Richard Neunsinger Jr.; the father of her children, Tommy Woods; many aunts, uncles and extended family and friends

A celebration of life will be held locally at a later date.

A gofundme has been established to assist the family with funeral costs.
