Sue Stearns, 88, of Sumner, and formerly of Oelwein passed away Thursday July 11, 2024 at Hillcrest Home in Sumner.  Graveside services will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Fayette on Monday July 29, 2024 at 10:30 AM. 

Sue Ann Stearns was born in Strawberry Point on July 24, 1935 to parents Richard and Mary (Wade) Ohl.  She graduated from Oelwein High School.  On February 21, 1954 she was united in marriage with John Stearns at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  Sue was employed as a bookkeeper with various businesses in the Waterloo area.

Sue is survived by her daughters: Cindee (John) Lichter of Galva, Iowa and Connie (Marty) Hillman of Maynard, Iowa; her ten grandkids and 18 great-grandkids; her sister Melodee Prindle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John of 70 years; her sons: Scott and Douglas Stearns; her son-in-law Bill Hesse; her daughter-in-law Teresa Stearns.
