Ruth Johnson, 90, of Oelwein joined our Heavenly Father on Sunday January 4, 2015.  Ruth’s family will hold a private memorial service and burial in Durango, CO.  Memorials in Ruth’s honor may be directed to Mercy Living Plus.

Ruth was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 24, 1924 to parents Samuel and Reva (Davis) Monson.  She married Grenfall Lozier (Bud) Bell on July 27, 1943 in Los Angeles, CA.  Bud passed away on May 27, 1963.  She later married D. Benjamin Johnson on September 21, 1968.  Ben passed away on February 13, 2009.

Ruth will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her loving disposition.  She will be missed by all who knew her.  Ruth loved to knit, work jigsaw puzzles and crosswords.  Her passion was reading books of all kinds.

Ruth is survived by her son R. Michael (Barbara) Bell of Durango, CO and her daughter Barbara (Michael) Darland of Hazelton.  She leaves her grandsons: Jason Darland of Bonita Springs, FL, Tom Darland of Oelwein, and Aaron (friend Christina) Bell of Portland, OR; her granddaughters: Jacci Meyers of Ryan, IA and Rachel (Patrick) Cain of Phoenix, AZ; her great-grandchildren: Kylinne Meyers, Addilyn Meyers and Michael John Darland.
