Ronald Lee Truog, 70, of Oelwein passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at home. There will be no visitation. A private family service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Geilenfeld Funeral home in Oelwein.

Ron was born on May, 1, 1947 in Oelwein, the son of Andrew and Dorothy (Watkins) Truog. He grew up in Oelwein and worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, retiring in 1983 due to his health. He was united in marriage to Julie Olson on January 22, 1967 in Jesup, Iowa. Ron enjoyed riding his Harley, listening to Elvis, golfing, his pets and going to the casinos. Ron enjoyed life to the fullest and leaves behind many friends and his family.  

Ron is survived by his wife, Julie; a sister, Debra Truog of Denver, Colorado; a special niece, Tina (Peter) Plough and a special nephew, Michael (Joann) Handke; and an aunt, Elly Truog of Oelwein. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Dorothy; a sister, Karen Handke; an infant son, Rodney and his pet Beasley Mae.
