Roger Roete, 61, of Maynard passed away Thursday June 6, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Oelwein.  Visitation will be from 4:00 -7:00 PM on Wednesday June 12, 2024 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday June 13, 2024 at the funeral home with Deacon Jim Patera officiating.  Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. 

Roger Joseph Roete was born in Oelwein on November 7, 1962 to parents Joseph and Alice (Kuennen) Roete.  He graduated from West Central High School in Maynard with the class of 1981.  Roger was self employed in the contruction field, as well as farm management.

Roger loved motorcycles.  Riding, trading, fixing and even a good match with a deer or two.  He enjoyed fishing at the pond.  Roger had a kind heart and always generous with his time and talents.  He was most happy spending time with his son Colton.

Left to celebrate Roger’s life are his son Colton (Samantha Duffy) Roete of New Hartford; his bonus daughter Nikole (Randy) Kaune of Oelwein; his siblings: Louis (Mary) Roete of Oelwein, John (Chris) Roete of Oelwein, Carol (Kirk) Keyser of Naples, Florida, Diane Derheim of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sharon Blaue of Corcoran, Minnesota and Janice (Phil) Harrington of Adel; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law Stan Blaue.
