James Leon Morrison, 88, of Cannon Falls, MN and formerly of Oelwein, passed away on Wednesday December 31, 2014 at Cannon Falls, MN. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday April 2, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein. Inurnment will be on Friday April 3, 2015 in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at Minneapolis, MN.
Jim was born on July 17, 1926 at Oelwein to parents Wilbur and Sylvia (Spece) Morrison. He graduated from Oelwein High School. Jim served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage with Marilyn Tollard and they later divorced. Jim was a BTJ Pipefitter with the Local 539 in Minneapolis, MN.
Jim was a member of the American Legion Ross Reid Post 9 of Oelwein, the Oelwein VFW Post 1725, the Hebron Masonic Lodge #374 AF & AM of Oelwein, the Forty & Eight and Hub City Heritage Museum. Jim was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein.
Left to celebrate Jim’s life are his grandchildren: Stefanie (Morrison) Herrick and Garrett Morrison; his daughter-in-law LuAnn Morrison; his nephew Wayne Morrison; and his special friend Eleanor Womack.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his sons: Steve Morrison and Greg Morrison; his brother Kenneth Morrison and his sister-in-law Blanche Morrison.
