Michele Recanati
February 4, 1973 - December 7, 2020

Michele Recanati, 47, of Oelwein passed away Monday December 7, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.  There will not be any services at this time.  Memorials may be made to: Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home, 309 1st Avenue NE – Oelwein, IA 50662.

Michele Lee Recanati was born in San Jose, CA on February 4, 1973 to parents Arnold and Almeda (Deatherage) Recanati.  She graduated from Leigh High School in San Jose with the class of 1991.  She then attended Bryman College in San Jose and graduated with her degree of Medical Assistant in 1995.

Michele was a loving, devoted mother to three sons and a best friend to her twin sister.  She lit up a room when she walked in with her big personality and kind heart.  Her motto was “Family Above All”.  The happiness of her family was the thing she loved and valued most in the world.

She grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and spent 16 years in Coeur d’Alene, ID, which she called home before moving to Oelwein on December 1, 2019.  She was a Medical Assistant for 25 years and a frontline health care worker who worked in family medicine at Oelwein MercyOne.

Michele passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital due to complications of COVID-19.  In her honor and for those who lost the COVID-19 battle, her family asks that this illness be taken seriously and the people of Oelwein, and the world, continue to protect themselves and others by practicing social distancing and wearing masks.

Michele will be missed forever and will always be in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.

Left to celebrate Michele’s life are her children: Tre Cyr and William Rudolph of Coeur d’Alene, ID, and Brody Reffner of Roaring Springs, PA; her twin sister Cynthia Recanati of Oelwein, her brother Philip Recanati of Oelwein and her brother Mark Recanati of Texas; her nieces and nephews: Amanda, Luke, Lexi, Nicholas and Ethan; as well as many friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents; and many aunts and uncles.

So many memories of laughter, adventure, and good times with Michele, my friend of 35 years. My heart goes out to her sister Cynthia and her family and friends at this impossibly difficult time. I'm happy I got to visit with her briefly in 2018. My family sends much love and light. She was a good little turtle :)

Love you girl. Sgt yolk forever. NKP forever. We will always have that connection. Always. I still have my sweatshirt in my closet and I’ll think about you whenever I wear it. May you know that you will always be remembered for the special qualities that made up who you were, including your Love, Light, Feistiness, Dedication to family and friends, your Hardwork and Perseverance towards your education and career, your Gentle and Rough sides (which were both amazing, especially for those on the right side of whatever you going through at the moment, and for always willing to help anyone who needed it. I’ll miss ya. May you Rest In Peace my friend.
