Mary Frances Jack, 91, passed from this life on Monday August 15, 2016 at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, Iowa. Services will be on Saturday August 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein with Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Visitation will be on Friday August 19 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home and one hour before services on Saturday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in rural Hazleton. Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein.
Mary was born on January 31, 1925 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of James E. and Ayleen (Farmer) Scheibe. She graduated from Central High School of Little Rock in 1942 with a class of 505. Mary was employed by the Union Bank of Little Rock until she was united in marriage to Darwin Jack on November 11, 1944. Mary moved to Marion, Iowa in 1945 while Darwin was away in the military, After Darwin returned home, they moved to Iowa City during his college years. After he graduated in 1951 they moved to Oelwein. Mary was a stay at home mother where she raised their three boys, Edward, Leslie and Timothy. She was also very active in the Cub Scouts as the boys grew up. Mary enjoyed golf, playing bridge and camping. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, singing in the church choir, member of Chapter CL, P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Mary is survived by her husband, Darwin; two sons, Edward D. Jack of Boone, Iowa and Timothy (Diane) Jack of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Debra Jack of Mechanicsville, Iowa; six grandchildren, Amanda Jack Yarges, Adam Jack, Lukas Jack, Tyler Jack, Jeremy Bunn and Christopher Jack; two great-grandchildren, Cooper Yarges and Maggie Mae Yarges; Nieces, Susan (Dan) Hill, Jennifer (Donald) Hayes and Stephanie (Michael Berry) Jack; a nephew, James (Gloria) Jack. She was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Jack (2000); a brother, James E. Scheibe, and her parents, James and Ayleen.
