Marolyn Boynton, 64, of Oelwein passed away on Saturday May 23, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Thursday May 28, 2015 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein with a Rosary Service at 4 PM and a Vigil Service at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Friday May 29, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with Rev. Paul C. McManus & Deacon Jim Patera officiating. Marolyn was born on May 15, 1951 in Oelwein to parents Keith Jr. and Helen (Van Daele) Koile. She graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 1968. On August 9, 1969 Marolyn was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Phillip “Bert” Boynton.
Marolyn was a Para-Educator with the Oelwein Community School District for 30 years, having worked at Wings Park and most recently at Parkside Elementary. She enjoyed quilting and was a master gardener-especially with her flowers. She also liked to send people flowers. Marolyn played softball in the area for many years and also enjoyed camping with her family and had a knack for decorating her house. Marolyn’s family was most important to her, enjoying her grandchildren and their activities. She will be dearly missed.
Left to celebrate Marolyn’s life are her children: Pamela (Michael) Boynton-Brady of Smithsburg, MD, Jennifer (Brandon) Fairbanks of Marion and Michelle Boynton of Waterloo; her grandchildren: Derek “Thorn” Boynton, Tylor Fairbanks, Cory Fairbanks and Brianna Brady; her sisters: Marge Mika of WI and Lisa Schares of Fairbank; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Marolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Phillip “Bert”; and her sister Carolyn Dettmer.
