Lucy Strand, 67, of Hazleton passed away Wednesday July 21, 2021.  A Celebration of Life will begin at noon on Sunday August 22, 2021 at Oelwein City Park Shelter #1 (center of park).  The Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein is assisting the family. 

Bessie Lucille Strand was born in Oelwein on May 16, 1954 to parents Noel and Elizabeth (Wilkinson) Ives.  She attended school at West Central in Maynard.  Lucy had been employed as a Nurse’s Aide in Sumner, in housekeeping at Grandview Healthcare Center in Oelwein and at McDonald’s in Oelwein.  On April 24, 2004 she was united in marriage with Orville Strand at the First Baptist Church in Oelwein.  Lucy loved her dogs Baby Girl and Bennie, shopping and taking photographs.

Left to celebrate Lucy’s life are her sister Frances Thorp of Oelwein; her nephews: Justin Thorp of Cedar Falls, Andrew Thorp of Oelwein, Adam (Anna) Thorp of Oelwein and Tyler (Lyndee) Thorp of Oelwein; her many friends and her special Clete & Connie’s group of friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Orville (2018).
