Just learned of Kirks passing. My sincere sympathy and gods blessings to the Nielson family. Sad to hear of someone that spent childhood memories together has joined our maker. Always enjoyed talking to Kirk, especially conversations about Civil War battles and historical events. Unfortunately we are somewhat isolated from current events in Oelwein and didn’t know of his battle with cancer!

Sorry for your loss. Our dog, Bella, enjoyed barking at Kirk on his walks. Eric had recently spoken with Kirk about the LSU quarterback dilemma.

We're sorry to hear about Kirk's passing. We grew up across the street from us him running when we lived in Oelwein. I can remember him running by our house many times in all kinds of weather.

My condolences to friends and family. I remember him since on the cross country team we would all start running, and the coach put him way back and then waited a long time before starting him running to then catch up with us all. It was awesome to see that and humbling.
