Jerome Garris, 91, of Oelwein passed away on Sunday December 31, 2017 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.  There are no services planned at this time.  Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein.  The Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein is assisting the family.  For condolences, please visit www.geilenfeld fh.com.

Jerome Paul Garris was born in Oelwein on September 3, 1926 to parents John Sr. and Mary (Schmidt) Garris.  He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School with the class of 1944.  He worked in the construction field and at Rath Packing in Waterloo until their closing in 1985.

Jerome is survived by his brother Fleir Garris of Brooksville, FL; his sister Cecilia Garris of Oelwein; his nephews: Greg (Diane), Eric (Bridget), Jim (Irene) and Kerry (Susan) Hartmann; his niece Kathy Hartmann.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Peter, John Jr., George and Adam Garris; his sisters: Irene Vogel and Marie Hartmann.
