Jean Lincoln
May 19, 1942 - March 1, 2015

Jean Rae Lincoln, 72, of Oelwein died Sunday March 1, 2015 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein. Services for Jean will be at 10:30 AM on Friday March 6, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein.  Visitation will be from 3-7 PM on Thursday March 5, 2015 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein and one hour before services at the church on Friday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church, Mercy Living Plus and CurePSP (Progressive supranuclear palsy).  To leave a condolence, please visit www.geilenfeldfh.com.

Jean was born on May 19, 1942 at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, the daughter of Raymond “Pete” Meyer and Ethel Mae (Butler) Meyer. During her high school years she met William “Bill” Lincoln and on August 16, 1964 at Grace United Methodist Church they were united in marriage.     

Jean graduated from Oelwein High School in 1960, continued her education at UNI in Cedar Falls where she graduated with a BA in Home Economics and Music. She taught home economics at McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids, and Williams Junior High in Davenport before returning to Oelwein where she taught Music in Maynard and substituted for the Oelwein Community Schools. In 1967 Jean and Bill joined the family business at Meyer Lincoln True Value Hardware and eventually became the owners. They worked there for forty years before retiring in 2007.

As an active citizen of the Oelwein community, she was a member and past president of the Tuesday Tourist Club, a member of PEO Chapter CL, McDowell Club, a fifty-year member of Eastern Star Chapter 45, a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Renewal Group and an Ambassador of Oelwein Chamber of Commerce for ten years.

Jean is survived by her husband Bill of Oelwein; her daughter Beth (Jeff) Conrey of Waterloo; her son Brett (Ann) Lincoln of Fountain Hills, AZ; five grandchildren: Sam, Rachel and Noah Lincoln and Lincoln and Lauren Conrey; her sister Joan Duea of Cedar Falls; her brother-in-law James (Mary) Lincoln of Oelwein; and her sister-in-law Jackie Euans of Oelwein; five nieces: Jill (Jeff) Bergman, Joy (Kendall) Palmer,Tammy (Marty) Stasi , Jona Schlosser, and Pam Euans; five nephews: Doug (Tisha) Lincoln, Brian (Stacey) Lincoln, Pat (Jean) Lincoln, Steve Euans and Jeff Euans; and her uncle Ed Meyer of Oelwein.

She was preceded in death by her parents Pete and Ethel; her brother-in-law Jerry Duea; and her nephew Randy Euans.

Bill, Brett & family - Everytime we needed a gift, we went to your store to pick something practical out. We went there for a lot of other things, of course, but I always remember Jean being there, being helpful and being so nice. You have my sympathies.
