Ila Marie Dyball, 88, passed away at her home in Denver, Iowa on June 20, 2018. A memorial open house will be held from 2:30-4:30 PM on Tuesday June 26, 2018 at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in rural Westgate. A memorial fund has been established by the family.
Ila M. Dyball was born on September 16, 1929 in Westgate, Iowa the daughter of Harvey C. and Sophia C. (Ziegler) Schrodemier. She grew up in the area and graduated from Maynard High School in 1947, then she received her teaching degree from Upper Iowa University. Ila taught for three years at the rural school in Fremont Township. On January 12, 1950 she was united in marriage to Arthur “Paul” Dyball at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She was very active in her church, teaching Sunday School, cooked meals for Lutheran Men’s meetings, belonged to many church circles and was a meal site volunteer. Ila enjoyed embroidering, quilting, sewing, crafts, playing cards, games, cooking and baking and her winters in Texas, but most of all she loved time with her family. She touched a lot of lives and will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her three children: Mary (Ron) Spurgeon of Knoxville, Carol Ann (Doug) Blanchard of Denver and Kevin (Kim) Dyball of Wyoming, Iowa; two grandchildren: Sarah (John) Sanderson and Derek Blanchard; three great-grandchildren: Anna, Nora and Lainey Sanderson; a sister Verla (Vern) Sabin of Cedar Falls; a sister-in-law Twyla Schrodemier of Oelwein, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband A. Paul Dyball (9/28/2016), a sister Alice Mae Schrodemier, a brother John Schrodemier, a special uncle Walter Ziegler and her parents Harvey and Sophia.
