Geraldine “Geri” Bliss (1935-2017)
Geri, 81, of Lakeville, MN, formerly of Oelwein and Fairbank, died Monday, May 29th, 2017, in her home in Lakeville, MN., surrounded by family and loved ones.
Geri was born September 1, 1935, in Fairbank Iowa, daughter of Edgar and Helen Overmann-Shannon. She graduated High School in 1953 from the Immaculate Conception High School in Fairbank and attended the Paris Beauty Academy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married Norman “Pete” Bliss on August 24th, 1957, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank. She held a variety of jobs over the years in the Oelwein area.
Survivors: (2) daughters, Debbie Miller (Dave Williams) Prescott, WI, Nancy Bliss (Scott Cramond and his children) Elko, MN (2) sons, Tim Bliss of Eden Prairie, MN, and Mike Bliss of Burnsville, MN and extended family.
5 Grandchildren: Amanda (Paul) Johnson, Nathan (Alissa) Miller, Derek Bliss, Dustin Bliss and Danielle Bliss, 7 Great Grandchildren: Brooklynne, Genevieve and Braxton Miller; Charlie, Zachary and Peter Johnson; and Lexi Lazaretti
She is preceded in death by her husband Norman “Pete” Bliss, parents, Edgar and Helen Shannon, a brother Gilbert and Fay Thomas (Tom) Shannon, sisters Donna Loftus, and Joan Shannon.
The family will celebrate Geri’s life at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein, on Saturday, August 26, 2017 @ 10:30 AM.
