Elsie Hanson, 91, of Oelwein passed away Sunday December 17, 2023 at MercyOne Medical Center in Oelwein.  Services will be private with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein.  The Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein is assisting the family. 

Elsie Clara Hanson was born on the family farm near Oelwein on December 12, 1932 to parents Rudolph and Lottie (Raymond) Banes.  She attended West Central in Maynard and then Oelwein High School.  On June 11, 1951 Elsie was united in marriage with Dell W. Hanson in Oelwein.  She had been employed with City Laundry in Oelwein and sold Avon Products in the area for many years.

Left to celebrate Elsie’s life are her children: Toni (Gary) Angle of Oelwein, Anita Ralston of Oelwein and Amy (Jeff) Nehl of West Union; her grandchildren: Shelly (Jeremy) Houge, Casey (Chad) Kohagen, Cody (Kylie) Angle, Steven M. Ralston, Jennifer (John) McDowell, Paige (Brian) Benge, Jordan Nehl and Sam (Stephanie) Nehl; her great grandchildren: Jaida, Garrison, Creighton, Scout, Addy, Laney, Ryker, Bayah, Bryer, Bracy, Steven C., Etel, Kross, Kate, Kendra, Ireland, Crue and Hailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son Dell Hanson; her brothers: Bill, Ed and Ralph (in infancy) Banes; her sisters: Helen Ehardt, Emma Clendenen, Elizabeth Hendren, Lucille Fleming, Beatrice Torey and Bertha Clark; her son-in-law Steven P. Ralston and daughter-in-law Connie Hanson.
