Carla K. Vande Vorde, 65, of Manchester, Iowa passed away on Thursday November 24, 2016 at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. Visitation will be on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 4-7 pm at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein with a rosary service at 4:00 pm and a parish scripture service at 7:00 pm.  Funeral  services will be on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with Father John Kramer officiating.  A memorial fund has been established by the family.

Carla was born January 8, 1951 in Postville, Iowa the daughter of Larry and Marian (Meyer) Handke.  She graduated from the Oelwein High School in 1969. On October 10, 1970 she was united in marriage to John Vande Vorde at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hazleton, Iowa. Carla was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and helped with the farm work. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, music, sewing, family gatherings, her time at church and visiting and playing with her children and grandchildren.  Carla touched many lives and will be forever in their hearts and memories.

She is survived by her husband, John Vande Vorde of Stanley, Iowa; her children, Robbie Vande Vorde of Aurora, Iowa, Brandie (Jeff) Anderson of Muscoda, Wisconsin and Lyndsie (fiancé-Scott Schepers) Vande Vorde of Ryan, Iowa; five grandchildren, Maxine, Jeffrey and Gracie Anderson and Halie and Olivia Schepers;  a brother, Richard (Debbie) Handke of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two sisters, Mary Fistler of Walker, Iowa and Dawn (Lowell) Latham of Oelwein; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Marian.
