Billy Staton Sr., 74, of Oelwein passed away Saturday October 9, 2021.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM on Saturday November 27, 2021 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Services will then begin at 11:00 AM.  A memorial fund has been established. 

Billy Ray Staton Sr. was born on July 21, 1947 to parents Joseph and Zeneata (Sauer) Staton.  He attended school in Manchester.  Billy then served his country honorably in the United States Army during Vietnam.  On January 1, 1997 he was united in marriage with Becky Vargason in Fairbank.  Billy had been employed as an auto mechanic at various shops, as well as an auto parts clerk with Arnold Motor Supply in Oelwein.  Billy also worked on various farms.  If able, Billy would do anything for anyone.

Left to celebrate Billy’s life are his children: Tammy (Ken) Steines of Independence, Jonathan Dumire of Oelwein, Shane (Wanda) Dumire of Masonville, Ben Dumire of Anamosa, Dorene (Richard) Roberts of Oelwein and Billy Staton Jr. of Strawberry Point; 35 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way; his siblings: Cloey Nickerson of Winthrop, David (Lil) Staton of Marion, Robert (Donna) Staton of Onalaska, WI, Cleta Martin of Michigan, Gail (Richard) Coleson of Fairfax, Keith Staton of Woodward, Gary (Sharon) Staton of Marion, Leroy (Debra) Staton of Dunkerton, Zeta (Gary) Nieman of Manchester, Don Staton of Cedar Rapids and Terry (Beckey) Staton of Oelwein; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Becky; his siblings: Frank Staton, Junior “JJ” Staton and a sister in infancy.
